Stolen Cologne by Ginju

In January I was approached by my dear friend Ginju. Ginju is the type of artist that likes to keep things under wraps, so when she approached me with the idea to collaborate on a music video for her first song I was super shocked! I didn’t even know she was working on a song!!

Of course I said yes, so she brought me into the fold. Along with our friend Quinten, we had our crew.

We began this collaboration through weekly planning calls starting from a high-level, then getting further into nitty gritty details as we progressed. This whole project was under a specific deadline, which truthfully helped with keeping us consistent and focused.

Once February rolled around, we dove right into filming the music video. Ginju wanted to capture a beachy aesthetic in her song, so where else to film but the beach? On our first day of filming we woke up at 4 am to drive 6 hours down to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Upon arrival, we got to work immediately since that day would be our only sunny day.

Throughout the next few days, we filmed and edited as much as we possibly could. Our efforts were energized by the Michelin-level meals that Ginju’s parents prepared for the hardworking crew.

After our hackathon weekend, we spent the next few weeks finalizing the video as well as preparing any and all release materials. Ginju’s single Stolen Cologne as well as the music video premiered in April at Reverie Room in NYC!
